Scientific/ Botanical Name: Madhuca utilis, Palaquium ridleyi and P. stellatum (Sapotaceae). Distribution: Southeast Asia (Borneo) Average dried weight/Air-dry density: 820-1200 kg/m3 Classification: Heavy hardwood Colour/Appearance: Sapwood is yellow-brown to purple-grey-brown while heartwood is red-brown to purple/chocolate-red-brown. Grain/ Texture: Texture is moderately fine and even, with straight or shallowly interlocked grain. (don't understand what is interlocked grain? See Grain Direction) Uses: 1. Decking 2.
