medium hardwoods
Medium hardwood also has numerous species with their strength slightly weaker than the heavy hardwood. Such species are Keranji, Kempas, Kekatong, Tualang, Mata ulat and etc. The only difference is the heavy hardwood (except Balau) mentioned are categorized into SG1 whereas these medium hardwoods are considered as in SG 2-5. This categorization is made under the MS 544 Part 2:2001. Main reason why Chengal, Merbau, Bitis and Penaga are categorized as SG 1 because these heave hardwood's properties and performance have been constantly excellent. However, medium hardwood also used for heavy construction works, floorings or deckings and etc, the only issue is that heavy hardwood would be more preferably if budget is not a constraint. (Heavy hardwood usually more costly than medium hardwood)
