Heavy hardwoods
Hardwood in Malaysia have quite a number of species, some of the popular ones are Balau, Merbau Chengal and etc. These species are being categorized as SG (Strength Group 1)(except for Merbau) by Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) and MS 544 Part 2:2001. Mostly the usages of hardwood are merely for heavy construction or for building structures/ frames/ floorings/ deckings that able to support great loads and weighs.
